GooApps presents the latest updates on Break the Gap: AI for Health & Sport Summit 2025, the event that drives technological innovation by offering a platform to transform ideas into future-ready startups. This second edition expands its scope with two independent tracks: the BreakTheGap AI & mHealth Challenge, focused on digital health, wellness, and medical technology, and the BreakTheGap AI & SportTech Challenge, centered on sports performance, injury prevention, and the application of AI in elite sports.
Contrary to what some may think, the event is not exclusive to women. While the goal of promoting female leadership remains, there are no gender restrictions for participation. Teams made up of men, women, or both can submit their challenges and compete on equal terms. This commitment to diversity is also reflected in the event’s ecosystem, which includes mentors, speakers, and judges who are women leaders in their fields.
One of the major new features is that all finalist teams—eight in total (four per track)—will gain access to a free acceleration program valued at €10,000, with no strings attached. Additionally, the winners of each track will have the option to receive a €50,000 equity investment from GooApps Ventures, but only if they choose to. This flexible model aims to support growth without imposing conditions.
Another important update is the extended application deadline, now open until June 8, 2025, in response to high participant demand. The eight finalist projects will be announced on June 20, and team formation will be revealed on June 25. Three online working sessions will then take place on July 3, 10, and 17, focused on solution development, validation, and prototyping. The in-person finals will be held at two iconic venues in Barcelona: on September 9 at the Barcelona Health Hub, located in the Modernist Site of Sant Pau (health track), and on September 10 at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium (sports track).
Break the Gap 2025 is solidifying its role as a platform to build purposeful technology, scale impactful ideas, and connect talent with opportunities in the health and sports sectors.
