- The project is supported by the Generalitat de Catalunya, funded by the Next Generation EU program, and collaborates with organizations that work to close the gender gap in the sector.
Barcelona, August 28, 2025 – From September 2 to 25, the TechBcn4Women Days will take place in Barcelona, a series of activities organized by the Tech Barcelona association and the i2CAT research center with the aim of boosting the presence and visibility of women in the technological and digital sector in Catalonia.
The program includes around ten talks, pitch sessions, and networking meetings led by entrepreneurs, researchers, and professionals in the ICT field. The activities are free and open to the public in order to give visibility to women-led projects and generate new opportunities in a sector still marked by the gender gap. In total, around fifty speakers are expected to participate.
On September 17, Pier07 at Tech Barcelona will host the main event of the initiative: Tech Spirit Barcelona | TechBcn4Women Edition, a day bringing together leading women in the tech ecosystem such as Mariona Sanz (Barcelona Supercomputing Center), Marta Estarellas (Qilimanjaro), Àngels Chacón (LLYC), and Elena Rico (Impact Partners), among others. Executives and professionals from international companies such as AstraZeneca, Tous, Nestlé, Indra, and Sanofi will also participate.
The project is supported by the Generalitat de Catalunya and funded by the European Next Generation EU program. Additionally, organizations that work to reduce the gender gap in the sector, such as Norrsken, SheBlooms, AFAEMME, and Juno House, are collaborating to bring the initiative closer to their communities and strengthen its impact.
According to Miquel Martí, CEO of Tech Barcelona, “TechBcn4Women is an opportunity to recognize women-led projects that are transforming the Catalan tech ecosystem and to create role models that inspire future generations to develop their careers in this sector.”
At the same time, i2CAT has reinforced the initiative by incorporating two professionals into the Mobile Wireless Internet research group as part of a university collaboration agreement. This is an effort to promote research and tech careers among women who are starting their professional journey and to help increase their presence in the ICT sector.
According to the director of the i2CAT Research Center, Dr. Sergi Figuerola, “TechBcn4Women provides a space to showcase women’s talent and generate new role models so they can develop solid careers in research and innovation and play a leading role in the development of technologies that will shape the future of our society.”
