Every founder wants to find the right investor. Someone who understands their project, shares their vision, and brings something more than just money. And, for their part, investors are looking for startups and founders that fit their investment thesis, way of working, vision for the future and, of course, their return expectations.

Finding that match isn’t always easy. And that’s where Tea Vrcic (Croatia, 1994) comes in, a Venture Scout for various European venture capital funds. Her role is precisely to connect these two worlds: identifying startups with potential and putting them in touch with the investors who can best support them in their growth.

In this interview, Tea talks to us about the projects that spark her interest, where she would invest €100,000, and the importance of “trust the process.”

TB: What is the purpose of your project?

TV: I bridge the gap between startups and venture capital, connecting the right founders together with the right investors.

TB: What stage is the project at, and where do you see yourself in two years?

TV: I’ve been scouting for 2 years now, but only recently have I started doing it full-time. Over the next two years, I want to continue building on that experience, expand my network, and become an even stronger bridge between ambitious founders and investors.

TB: What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced, and what has it taught you?

TV: The most important lesson (and one that also applies to founders) is to believe in yourself, stay resilient, and keep showing up every day.

TB: What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

TV: Luck is when preparation meets opportunity.

TB: Have you changed your mind about anything over time?

TV: I stick to the one:”Strong opinions, loosely held”. I believe it’s important to have strong convictions while remaining open-minded enough to change your mind.

TB: What do you value most in the people you work with?

TV: Transparency, good work ethics, resourcefulness, and a good human being overall.

TB: What technology will shape the future?

TV: Right now, I’m particularly bullish on space technology (spacetech) and quantum computing. I believe both have enormous potential to transform the way we live and work in the future.

TB: What do you do to unwind?

TV: Going to the gym and reading books. Both help me disconnect from work, clear my mind, and create a space away from the constant pace of the startup and venture capital world.

TB: A book you would recommend.

TV: ‘Originals’, by Adam Grant.

TB: A recipe, dish, or restaurant.

TV: Tuna steak rubbed in fennel seeds, pepper and salt, pan-seared. Served with whole grain rice and rocket salad with teriyaki dressing.

TB: A place in the world.

TV: Costa Rica or Mauricio. I’d recommend either of them 100%.

TB: Where would you invest €100,000?

TV: I’d diversify it across different stocks and ETFs.
