Let’s get inspired by successful women that are making an impact in the startup and tech communities of our beloved Barcelona.

We’ll have a fireside chat with Anna Gener, President & CEO of Savills Aguirre Newman BCN. Anna is an inspiring woman who speaks up about the subtle incongruences of the modern business world. As a member of various Boards of Directors across Catalonia, her efforts to be a truthful and honest entrepreneur are what make her stand out.
She has a degree in Economic and Entrepreneurial Sciences from Pompeu Fabra University and specializes in Realtor studies since 2004. She writes articles and think pieces at Eje Prime and Economía Digital.

The event will go as follows:
1. First, we have an open mic session where any attendee is free to speak up his mind or ask for a piece of advice from the community and receive feedback.
2. The second part is the fireside chat interview, hosted by our Chapter Director Àlex Rodríguez Bacardit.
3. And last but not least, we host a networking session in which attendees talk to each other freely over some beers and delicious empanadas. There’s no Startup Grind where you don’t leave with new friends and exciting connections.

Hoja de ruta para los líderes de la transformación digital

En esta sesión, Dr. Oscar Aguer realizará un recorrido por su experiencia en la formación de perfiles digitales, primero como CEO de la UOC, después como Senior VP de Ilumno en Miami, una de las organizaciones educacionales más importantes de América que cuenta con presencia en 10 países, y actualmente como Director de Three Points, la nueva Escuela de Negocios Digital del Grupo Planeta.

Oscar compartirá con los asistentes una visión práctica sobre las claves que los perfiles directivos deben considerar a la hora de formar y seleccionar el talento que lidere con éxito la transformación digital de la mediana y gran empresa, considerando las metodologías docentes más actuales así como la necesidad de una vertiente eminentemente práctica en cualquier formación de un perfil digital.

Understanding your startup’s valuation is a fundamental when it comes to fund raising and selling your startup. But fundraising is still a mystery to most of us. How does one put a price on a company that is newly created or still hasn’t reached it’s maturity.

What metrics do we use to value a company? In this two hour workshop, we aim to introduce you to the science and the art behind startup valuation helping you truly understand the methodologies you can use to value your company. We will discuss some examples in the fintech space, techniques and practice valuation modeling as well.

Vaibhav Puri is a Product and Business Specialist at the Payment Innovation Hub with experience in building digital products in the payments and IoT space. In 2011, he founded and led product at an innovative IoT startup that sold products and services to thousands of customers across the globe. Prior to his startup, he worked as a strategy consultant for McKinsey & Co and Ernst & Young. In the past, he has successfully helped companies raise funds over $10 million in the technology space covering specifics such as due-diligence, corporate valuation, business planning and fund raising documentation. He has a Bachelors in Computer Science with Distinction from University of Pune, India and M.B.A. from University of Oxford.

Vision to Action is an initiative led by the Payment Innovation Hub with the aim of sharing experiences, contributing and inspiring the entrepreneurial community. At the Hub, we have a high-performance team of experts that work across multi-disciplinary work areas and methodologies. Each month a member of our team will hold a workshop on some of the techniques and tools that are used as part of the innovation process at the Hub. All sessions have a specific theme in mind and are aimed at entrepreneurs, startups and an audience with interest in technology and innovation. With each session, participants get an opportunity to gain practical skills and knowledge on the theme being presented. OVERVIEW

Hematological patients face a daily threat. Due to certain cancer treatments, their immune system deteriorates and it is very likely that many of them end up suffering from febrile neutropenia. When this happens, there is a considerable risk that they end up developing a possibly-fatal disease called bacteremia. Since performing a complete diagnosis to determine whether a patient has bacteremia or not could take multiple days (and prolonged waiting times for infected patients would drastically increase their risk of dying), most patients are treated with strong and expensive antibiotics right away even if they might not need it. There is, however, a huge amount of historical data available regarding the tests performed on each patient as well as their surroundings that could help predict the probability of a patient developing bacteremia.

THE CHALLENGE

Help our doctors! Develop a Machine Learning algorithm to predict which patients with neutropenia are most likely to develop bacteremia. The ability to produce accurate data-based predictions, to think out of the box and be a team player will play an essential role to win this challenge. Not to mention your ability to present to the audience and committee of experts your insights and outputs generated.
