DESIGNING THE FUTURE OF MOBILITY

DESIGNING THE FUTURE OF MOBILITY:
How design can help improve customer experiences and city system integration of new mobility services
New emerging mobility solutions are becoming increasingly popular in cities around the world. New types of personal vehicles, new services, and new business models are starting to reshape the way people move
around the city. This could be an exciting transition to cities that are cleaner, easier to navigate and more flexible for everyone within them. However, as new paradigms like these start to take hold, they also begin to highlight the many challenges – and opportunities – that we still need to address.
Zinc is partnering with Scoot to bring together key players from the urban mobility sector in Barcelona to explore through a panel discussion and workshop how we can keep improving urban mobility for the future.
The session will be divided in 2 parts. The first part will be a panel discussion with a range of experts about the different challenges we need to solve, and the second part will be a workshop involving co-creation sessions addressing some specific relevant topics (see below). Anyone can register for either or both sessions but the workshop participants will be selected based on further information we request. (We may be in touch by email after registration).
AGENDA:
9.00 – 9.30 – Registration & coffee
9.30 – 9.45 – Introduction and welcome from Zinc and Scoot
9.45 – 10.45 – Panel (Panelists To Be Confirmed)
10.45 – 11.15 – Coffee break and networking
11.15-12.45 – Workshop (limited places – signup required)
12.45 – 13.00h – Conclusions
Workshop Topics:
1. Defining the App 2.0 for smart mobility services. Using design methodology, come up with a high-level plan of what the next versions of Apps will include in terms of features & functionalities.
2. Making travel seamless. What are the pain points in the city when using multiple forms of travel, and how can we solve for them?
3. .Identify the main personas that use new mobility now and who will use new mobility solutions in the future, and what services do we need to provide each of them specifically?
4. Mobility 10 years from now. Looking at trends, user behaviours, and changing business landscape, where do we see urban mobility 5 years and 10 years from now?

We’ll have a chat with Timo Buetefisch, CEO & Co-Founder of Cooltra, and an ex-consultant and MBA from IESE, who has been living in the Catalan capital for about 14 years. Before settling in Barcelona, he lived in his native Germany, Paris, Buenos Aires, Greece and Switzerland giving him a cosmopolitan character.
He has a strong entrepreneur personality and has always been clear that he wanted to be his own boss. Passionate about the world of motorcycling, Timo found the opportunity to start his own business when his bike was damaged one day while he was driving around Barcelona. When this happened, he realized that the niche of motorcycles was not exploded enough, as it was very difficult for him to find a company where he could rent a scooter during the weeks that his was in the workshop. From this need was born Cooltra, a great project that with his friends – the brothers Henrik and Holger Sprengel – managed to create what would be today the European leader in sustainable mobility solutions on two wheels.
The event will go like this:
1. First, we have an open mic session where every attendee may come on stage to ask for help for his/her startup for a maximum of 30 seconds. Keep your pitch sharp!
2. Fireside chat with our guest.
3. A networking session where attendees talk to each other freely over fresh beers and delicious food. There’s no Startup Grind event where you won’t leave with new friends and exciting connections.
Startup Grind is the most significant community of entrepreneurs, powered by Google for Entrepreneurs. Our mission is to help every entrepreneur in the world. We do so by hosting a monthly recurring event and inspiring, educating and connecting entrepreneurs. The Barcelona chapter was granted the “Best Chapter of the Year” award in 2016, with the average assistance of 130 attendees per event, having held over 50 events since April 2014 and helping local entrepreneurs to take their projects to the next level.
Follow #SGBCN; the official Startup Grind Barcelona hashtag.
See you there and happy grinding!
